"Painting With Numbers"

by Randall Bolten

A Door prize will be given at the end of the presentation.

Program Description

Presenting numbers is not a math aptitude; it's a communication skill that can be mastered. How effectively you do so has a huge impact on how well your audience understands your information, and on how well you connect with them.

Based on information from his new book, Painting With Numbers: Presenting Financials and Other Numbers so People Will Understand You, Randall Bolten will outline the essentials of communicating your numerical data clearly, concisely, elegantly, and — most important — effectively.

A
bout our Presenter

Randall Bolten is a longtime Silicon Valley financial executive. His 30 years of experience includes nearly 20 years as a Chief Financial Officer, half that time with public companies (BroadVision and Phoenix Technologies) and the other half with startups, as well as management positions at Oracle and Tandem Computers.

He has seen firsthand how different the results can be when numbers are presented clearly, elegantly, and effectively — and when they are not. This experience has made him passionate about the subject. He holds an AB degree from Princeton University and an MBA from Stanford University.

Meeting Mail List

The East Bay STC has two email lists for sending meeting notices and announcements of chapter-related events and workshops. Both lists are used solely for local notices and announcements related, so they generate only minimal email traffic.

One list is exclusively for chapter members and is used to conduct elections and other chapter business. All chapter members should be enrolled automatically. If you believe that you are a member of the East Bay STC, but have not been receiving meeting notices, contact our Membership Manager, Romy Sinha [rom.sinha@gmail.com].

The other list is for all who have expressed an interested in receiving our announcements. If you want to be on that list, send an email to Lori Cooke [licooke@netscape.net]. In the Subject line, enter EB STC Mail List. In the body, please provide your name. Lori will confirm within a week that she has added you to the list. If you have not heard from her in a week, contact her again, cc'ing the chapter President, Gwaltney Mountford [mgm@mountfordgroup.com].
