"Dealing with Recruiters"

By Andrew Davis

Program Description

If you are currently looking for a job, this program is not to be missed!

During a recent or past job search, have you dealt with a recruiter that left you wondering how you could have maximized the opportunity? Andrew Davis will discuss how best to deal with recruiters.

He will provide valuable insight into what makes recruiters do what they do, and how to use them to your advantage. This presentation will not be an apologia for recruiting as much as a candid, pragmatic discussion that will help you get what you want from the transaction. If you think most recruiters are on your side, come prepared to be disabused. If you already harbor hostility toward this breed of "salescritter," please come and share your perspective -- but also be open to hearing the "rest of the story." You will earn more, curse less, and feel more powerful for the experience.

A
bout our Presenter

Andrew Davis was a technical writer of sysadmin and developer documents for 8 years before starting Synergistech Communications in 1995. Synergistech was a respected recruiting firm for technical writers and similarly skilled professionals in the Bay Area until its "hibernation" in late 2001.

Andrew has now relaunched his firm, which he refers to as Synergistech "v2.0", as a full-spectrum IT recruiting firm, not focused only on information developers. His recent experience working for an IT recruiting firm in San Francisco showed him how most recruiters really operate. It was not pretty, but a good "learning experience" from which he is eager to share his lessons.
