Editor’s Message

DMV Managing Editor
After a year's hiatus, the Devil Mountain Views is once again in publication. I am delighted to serve as your new Managing Editor.
I've been a software technical writer in the computer industry for many years, but am new to STC. At my first EBSTC meeting in January, Patrick Lufkin said to me (perhaps in jest) that being DMV Managing Editor would be a great job for a newcomer such as myself. Easy mark that I am, I took the bait. Doing a newsletter is one of the few things I have not done during my career. What I lack in experience, however, I certainly hope to make up for with effort and enthusiasm.
I've got big shoes to fill. The DMV has had a glorious past, winning the following STC awards along the way:
- 2004-2005: Excellence
- 2003-2004: Excellence
- 2002-2003: Best of Show, Most Improved, Distinguished Technical Communication
- 2001-2002: Merit
Initially my goals are modest: to publish on time and represent the chapter with dignity. We'll see where it goes from there.
I asked a number of people to join me on the newsletter staff, and am indebted to the following for agreeing to do so:

If anyone else is interested in joining us, you are certainly welcome. We do, by the way, need a web designer. Until we get one I will do the best that I can in that role.
We will also need interesting things to publish on a continuing basis. Anything you can offer will be received gratefully.
